Honest Abe’s

In 2020 the NCAA ruled that student athletes could be paid by advertising opportunities outside of the university. In Nebraska, this was a big deal as the state has one major division one football team - the Huskers. Honest Abe’s, a local burger spot, wanted to work athletes to give them a bit more money in their pocket and feed the community. The idea amalgamated into the Honest Abe’s Loaded Fry Face-Off. Tate Wildeman and Casey Rogers, both active football players, crafted a set of delicious fries to be featured at the three restaurants. The public could vote on their favorite with each purchase. One dollar from each fry basket sold went to the Food Bank of Lincoln, the players earned extra money, and fry sales peaked during the season
